2011 Recruiting

September 24, 2010 11:51 pm

So it's roughly halfway through the season as far as recruiting goes, and according to ESPN Arizona is slated in the top 3 for now for the 2011 season, behind only Kentucky and North Carolina I believe.  For this being Sean Miller's first true recruiting season at Zona, you gotta give the guy mad props.  3 verbals, all 3 players listed in the nations top 100.  Extremely impressive Coach; I tip my cap to you.  I must say I am very excited about the upcoming season, with much curiosity to see how well we do(which I'm quite sure we should be among the top of the Pac).  If you glance at all the prospects with interest in Point Guard U for the next few seasons, one can't help but smile.  In my humble opinion, we were sent a God-send being Coach Miller.  A class act, former all-american point guard in the Big East; I'm gonna say it now...the torch has been handed from one legend(obviously coach Olsen) and passed on to a legend in the making.  Time for me to shut up, sit back, enjoy a cervesa, and let the next 25+ consecutive tourneys come by to Zona...with a few championships along the way no doubt.

Nick Johnson Commits to UofA

August 19, 2010 1:45 pm

6-3 shooting guard Nick Johnson of Findlay College Prep in Henderson, NV, has given an oral commitment to play for the Wildcats. He's a four-star recruit from a powerhouse high school program and considered the No. 45 overall recruit in the country.
This is a great get by Sean Miller. The rebuilding is gaining momentum.

CATS MAKE THE MOVE TO IMPROVE SPORTS PROGRAMS

December 23, 2009 4:51 pm

Finally U of A fires that DEAD HEAD Athletic Director. Livengood was just another tax payer paid dork who can't/won't do his job!
After he let Lute Olson work, then not work (because he was geting a divorce?), then work for 2 weeks, then quit - WHO WOULD WANT TO PLAY AT U OF A? The good players left the program. NO quality coach is going to come here because if Lute wants to come back he might lose his job. This AD fired Dick Tomey - the best football coach U of A has ever had. Golf, softball and other sports have lost their national rankings since this Ad has been here. GOOD RIDDINGS. Glad to see him GO!

Struggling CATS!

December 13, 2009 1:05 am

After an impressive win over Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, the CATS hit a huge snag Saturday night.  After having five guys in double figures Wednesday, they had only two, Williams and Jones.  The CATS had their worst offensive performance of the year against San Diego St. shooting 35.6 percent from the field.

I know that this team is young and inconsistent, but shooting this terrible, something has to be up.  Maybe the talented freshman, other than Williams, aren't that talented.  Wise had a season low 4 points and all I can say is that if this team doesn't get their act together soon, they are not going to make the tourney.  The losses to Wisconsin, Vandy, UNLV, and Oklahoma are excusable, but losing to San Diego St. they way the did is embarrassing.  They have yet to win a road game this year, other than the Maui Invitational against Colorado.  Luckily the next 3 games are at home, and they have 9 days off, and they all should be winable.  Good Luck next Monday, (Dec 21st) CATS.

Might be a rough year?

December 7, 2009 10:45 am

The Cats were smoked by Willie Warren and Oklahoma last night.  Wise and Williams continue to produce, but that is about it.  Once Parrom comes back, hopefully that will add some depth to the team.  The next five games are all winable putting the cats at 8-4 to start conference play.  Since the PAC-10 is down this year, they should have a pretty good chance at finishing in the top 3....but I don't know if that will be good enough to get them into the tourney this year.  Hopefully the next five games give the kids some experience, if not, it could be a long year.
